One of my favorite hidden gems in San Francisco is Peking Restaurant. Located deep in the Sunset, this place rarely is heard in my everyday foodie conversations. It's unassuming and usually empty — a true hole in the wall place.
Looking at their menu, its easy to order the "specials" and be severely disappointed but the true tasty dishes are the ones only known by those who frequent it.
What to get: Couple's delight (涼拌牛筋) — sichuan peppercorn beef tendon, preserved vegetable and pork pan fried nian gao (榨菜肉絲炒年糕) a sort of mochi cake, hot and sour soup, la zhi ji (辣子雞) Sichuan style chicken, and shen jiang bao (生煎包), pan fried pork bao.
